Privacy Policy

VidSnappy ("VidSnappy", "we", "us") operates vidsnappy.com, a set of free, browser-based video editing tools plus a few AI tools. This policy explains what data we collect when you use the service, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep the amount of personal data we collect to what the service actually needs.

Information we collect

Account data. When you sign up, we store your email address and, if you use Google sign-in, the basic profile fields Google returns (name, email, avatar URL). We store a hashed password only if you register with email and password — never the plaintext.
Content you provide. The videos and images you upload to the AI tools, plus the results those tools produce for you. These are tied to your account so you can find them again.
Billing data. If you subscribe, payments are processed by Stripe. We receive your subscription status, plan, and the last four digits and brand of your card — we never see or store your full card number.
Usage data. Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) and privacy-respecting product analytics, used to keep the service reliable and to understand which features are used.

How we use your data

To run the AI tools you use and return their results to you.
To operate your account, apply your credit balance, and process subscriptions.
To send transactional email (verification, receipts, and account notices).
To secure the service, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your uploaded files or your results to train foundation models.

VidSnappy Chrome extension

If you install the VidSnappy extension for Chrome, it handles data as follows:

What it records. It records only after you click start and choose what to capture yourself: a browser tab, a window or your screen, or your camera (and your microphone, if you turn it on). It does not record in the background, and it does not read the content of the web pages you visit or your browsing history.
Local processing. Previewing, trimming, compressing, and converting a recording to GIF all happen locally in your browser. Your recording is not uploaded for these steps.
Checking your plan. When you open the panel, it asks vidsnappy.com whether you are signed in and which plan you are on, using your vidsnappy.com sign-in cookies; if you are on a paid plan it also fetches the names of your latest projects to show them. No recording or page data is sent for this.
Transcription. If you are signed in on a paid plan and click to transcribe, the extension first asks you to confirm. Only after you confirm does it upload the selected clip (its audio and video) to vidsnappy.com, where a third-party AI provider turns the speech into text (see AI providers below). The transcript is sent back to the extension panel, and your credit balance is applied. Nothing is uploaded for transcription before you confirm. The uploaded clip is stored and retained like other files you upload to VidSnappy (see Storage and hosting and Data retention below).
Saving to a project. Only when you click save does the extension upload the clip you are saving (your recording or your edited output) and, if you have already transcribed it, the transcript text to vidsnappy.com and store it in a new VidSnappy project (in Cloudflare R2 storage, described below). It uses your VidSnappy sign-in session (the vidsnappy.com cookies in your browser) and sends this data to vidsnappy.com only, not to anyone else. Saved files are then covered by the rest of this policy.
What it stores locally. The extension keeps one small counter in the extension's local storage on your device: how many free exports you have made today (a number and a date). It does not keep your recordings or your project list; a recording stays in the open panel until you close it.

Data from the extension is used only to provide its recording, editing, transcription, and saving features. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or transfer it to third parties, and the use of information received through the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

AI providers

When you run an AI tool, the request is sent to third-party AI model providers to produce your results. Only the input needed for that run (the file you supply and any text or settings you enter) is sent, and it is used to return your result, not to identify you.

Storage and hosting

VidSnappy runs on Cloudflare's global network. Files you upload to the AI tools and their results are stored in Cloudflare R2 object storage, and account records in a Cloudflare D1 database. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by our infrastructure providers.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences (such as language). We do not use advertising cookies.

Data retention

We keep your account data and library for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual results at any time. When you close your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain records to meet legal or accounting obligations.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email us at the address below and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.

Children

VidSnappy is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date, and where appropriate we will notify you.
